Class Experience

This class is a full year of kindergarten ( covered in one semester) that allows each child to learn hands on. Each topic that will be covered is below and broken down by months. All learners will engage in fun active learning, while communicating and having a great time. As a teacher it is my goal to encourage each learner to be their best self, I will ask open-ended questions and also find out how each learner learns best. My style of teaching is Montessori and I will us this approach to help engage each child and make a positive impact. Areas that will be covered each month are below and you can request the days you prefer if they are not available.. THIS COURSE RUNS FROM AUGUST- DECEMBER AND JANUARY- MAY ( YOU CAN JOIN THIS CLASS AT ANYTIME)

Topic 1: Introduction to Numbers

Week 1=One-to-one correspondence ,numerical (number) names

Week 2=Identifying quantity to number

Week 3=Sequencing , Writing Numbers

Week 4= Odd/Even

Topic 2: Linear and Basic Adding and Subtraction

Week 1 – Counting in groups (11-20), Teens and Beyond

Week 2 – numbers before and after, “intro to adding and subtracting numbers”

Week3 = greater than/less than/equal too, exposure to adding and subtraction

Week4 = Adding and Subtraction and review from previous weeks

Topic 3: Supplemental Math

Week 1= Intro and Review of Shapes (sides)

Week 2 =Shapes/Fractions (whole, half, thirds, fourths)

Week 3 =Patterns (learning and creating)

Week4= Review of week 1-3

Topic 4: All about Money

Week 1=Money-intro (penny and nickel )

Week 2= Names of all coins

Week 3= Symbols for coins, dollar value as well as equivalencies for money (U.S Coins)

Week 4= Adding (Pennies and Nickels)

Topic 5: Time, Month, Day, Year, Data Graphing and Measurements

Week 1= Understanding digital and analog clock

Week 2= Understanding (month, day, week, year)Morning, Afternoon, Night exposure to hour, half hour

Week 3= Exposure to different types of graphs, collecting data and making predictions

Week 4= Measurements and Enjoy our last class with fun activities.

Parents will receive more details about our last day of class, have a wonderful day.

Learning Goals Each learner will begin learning the basics in math.

Building our Social Skills!!! (With a Family Specialist) (One-time Class) – 8 to 12 yrs. Old

Building our Social Skills!!! (With a Family Specialist)

Type: One-time Class
Summary: Improving social skills will allow learners to feel more independent and excited about communicating at a higher level.
Schedule: 30 mins/ class Size: 10 to 12
Age: 8 to 12 yrs. Old Cost: $18
Class Experience In this class, learners will be given the opportunity to enhance their communication skills with a certified Health and Human Services professional. Some of the topics that we will discuss are empathy, personal space, taking turns, starting a conversation and much more. I will offer open-ended questions that will give each learner an opportunity to respond, and learn at their level. My teaching style is Montessori, and we will have a great time talking and learning with each other.
Learning Goals A few of the most important goals I will focus on are sharing, cooperating, listening, following directions, respecting personal space, making eye contact and using manners. These are just a few of the learning goals that I have in place, but we will also make individual personal goals.
Homework Each learner will be asked to implement the changes that they have learned during class.

Using My Words “With a Montessori Approach”

Summary: Doing this interactive class, learners will get an opportunity to build their social skills and learn to problem solved, practice taking turns, and work with other children their age in a fun and welcoming environment.
Schedule: 30 mins/ class Size: 5 to 8
Age: 3 to 6 yrs. Old Cost: $10
Class Experience

Children will get an opportunity to talk amongst each other and problem solve in a fun and creative way. We will discuss several topics, for example emotions, problem-solving, using kind words, and taking turns. The structure of the class will be welcoming and very open-ended.  All topics will be chosen by learners and discussed as a group (child-centered). Each learners’ ideas and interest are important and they will all get an opportunity to engage in conversation and speak about how they feel and what they might want to do different.

This is a very engaging class and offers learners a sense of independence. During each class, we will focus on two different tops according to learners’ interest (learners will be encouraged to give examples).

Learning Goals Learners will improve their confidence in knowing how to problem solve and build their social skills.
Homework I encourage all parents to ask the learner what they enjoyed most about the class.
Supply List Learners can bring one of their favorite things to class, for example a lovey or favorite small toy.

Freeze Dance “Get Your Body Moving” – Health & Wellness – 3 to 8 yrs. old

Freeze Dance “Get Your Body Moving” – Health & Wellness

Summary: Listening to directions can sometimes be challenging especially at a very young age. As a Montessori teacher it is important that we incorporate body movement in everyday life. So please come and join as we dance and freeze!
Schedule: 20 mins/ class Size: 9 to 12
Age: 3 to 8 yrs. old Cost: $9
Class Experience

Children will get an opportunity to interact and engage with children their own age. They will receive simple instructions from a teacher and enjoy dancing, creativity, body movement, age-appropriate music and giggles. Each class will start off with a little introduction and each child will be recognized to participate (not forced). Children will also have an option to sit in their seats or stand up.

As a group we will discuss what it looks like to follow instructions and after this brief discussion we will go right into our freeze dance fun.

Body movement and physical fitness is so important, and in a Montessori setting children get an option of where they would like to work. This is why I allow children to sit or stand, the simple activities will help in their everyday life. We also talk about what it looks like to exercise and have a healthy body.

We dance too three or four different (per class session) songs a month.

Please remind your little ones to stay safe as they dance and have a great time (for example no standing in chairs).

Learning Goals Students will learn how to follow simple instructions and the importance of fun and physical fitness.
Time Commitment 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
