Class Experience
This course provides a comprehensive year-long curriculum in 1st-grade mathematics, 
thoughtfully condensed into a single semester to offer a dynamic, hands-on learning
 experience for each child. The outlined topics, detailed below and categorized by 
months, ensure a well-rounded and engaging educational journey. Active participation 
and enjoyment are paramount, as all learners will be immersed in interactive, 
communicative, and enjoyable learning experiences. As an educator, my mission is
 to inspire each learner to achieve their personal best by employing a teaching 
methodology rooted in the Montessori approach. Through open-ended questioning and 
an understanding of individual learning preferences, I aim to make a positive impact 
on each child's educational journey.

The monthly curriculum is structured as follows, and flexibility is offered for preferred 
class days:

Month of January or August: Topic 1 - Introduction to Numbers Part 2

Week 1: Charts & Counting "maybe odd and even "
Week 2: Patterns
Week 3: Comparing Numbers
Week 4: Base 10 Blocks "golden beads or base ten blocks recommend"

Month of February or September: Topic 2 - Fun with Numbers

Week 1: Place Value and "Nearest tenth maybe"
Week 2: Addition (Using Manipulatives and Counting Pass)
Week 3: Addition (Single and double-digit numbers) (with and without 
manipulatives and counting pass)
Week 4: Subtraction

Month of March or October: Topic 3 - Supplemental Math

Week 1: Shapes 2D and 3D (sides) review
Week 2: Identifying Equal Parts, Parts of a whole (whole, half, thirds, fourths)
 and maybe more
Week 3: Intro to fractions 
Week 4: Fractions (with a short intro video on fraction word problems if time 
allows)


Month of April or November: Topic 4 - All about Money "U.S. dollars and coins"

Week 1: Names of Coins and Value
Week 2: Counting coins (pennies, dimes, and maybe nickels)
Week 3: Counting coins (pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters, maybe dollars)
Week 4: Counting money word problems (Coins and Dollars)

Month of May or December: Topic 5 - Time, Data, and Word Problems

Week 1: Understanding a digital and analog clock, Morning, Afternoon, Night
 (Exposure to the hour, half-hour)
Week 2: Graphing and Data (Sorting Data, Counting, Bar Charts)
Week 3: Graphing and Data (Sorting Data, Counting, Bar Charts)
Week 4: Learning to solve Word Problems (Addition and Subtraction)


Our final class will be filled with enjoyable activities, and parents will receive detailed

Class Experience

This class is a full year of kindergarten ( covered in one semester) that allows each child to learn hands on. Each topic that will be covered is below and broken down by months. All learners will engage in fun active learning, while communicating and having a great time. As a teacher it is my goal to encourage each learner to be their best self, I will ask open-ended questions and also find out how each learner learns best. My style of teaching is Montessori and I will us this approach to help engage each child and make a positive impact. Areas that will be covered each month are below and you can request the days you prefer if they are not available.. Week 1 – Counting in groups (11-20), Teens and Beyond

Week 2 – numbers before and after, “intro to adding and subtracting numbers”

Week3 = greater than/less than/equal too, exposure to adding and subtraction

Week4 = Adding and Subtraction and review from previous weeks
