“If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes,
learn to trust, share their feelings, and grow.” – Alfie Kohn

Our Story
Montessori and More is an innovative educational approach birthed by Felecia Woods, that addresses the whole child-educationally, emotionally and developmentally. Looking back at the gaps in her education, it was clear a different approach would have sparked a love for learning in her. However, being reared in the traditional private and public school system taught Woods one thing—education to be effective needed to be vibrant and individualized for each learner. Woods recognized pluralistic education did not serve learners long term because it did not address their learning styles, developmental differences or unique academic needs. Woods thoroughly believes all children deserve a place to learn at their own pace. Motherhood confirmed this philosophy for Woods, who by these time had also received her BA in Education and Health and Human Services counseling. As she watched her children flourish when given the opportunity to independently explore academic subjects, she knew others needed the same experience. Overtime, it became obvious that the Montessori style of teaching was best for one child, whereas the other needed a totally different approach. As a result of study and passion for children and families, she developed Montessori and More. Over 12+ years the methodology has helped countless students love learning and acquire core academic skills. Moreover, the approach excites children about the learning process.
